NEW PATHWAYS

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

“Supported Employment is paid competitive work that offers ongoing support services in integrated settings for individuals with the most severe disabilities.  Supported Employment is intended for individuals for whom competitive employment has not traditionally occurred or has been interrupted or intermittent as a result of a most severe disability.  This employment outcome is obtained by providing intensive services and is sustained through the provision of extended services.  The level of employment participation may be full or part-time based on the interests and abilities of the individual.”

Schoharie County ARC’s Supported Employment Program currently provides employment support services to over 90 individuals with various abilities.  Our program, New Pathways, works cooperatively with state and local agencies to ensure a continuum of quality services for the individuals we serve.  We work with several businesses in Schoharie County to ensure their employment needs are met, and with the consumer to ensure they have the necessary supports for successful employment. Services we provide include, but are not limited to:

  • Community-based Situational Assessment

  • Job Development and Placement

  • Intensive Job Coaching/training

  • Advocacy

  • Case management

  • Extended support

New Pathways provides an individualized, comprehensive approach to competitive employment for those individuals whose disabilities have prevented them from successfully securing and/or maintaining jobs. Through job site training and ongoing follow along services, individuals participating in the program are able to obtain and maintain employment to become valued employees in the work force, and contributing members of their communities.
